Course Description:

Overview of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in the development of DSM-5 Trauma- and Stressor-Related Disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) occurrence, symptoms, course and treatment in the population of people with addictive disorders (Core Functions: Assessment, Treatment Planning, Reports and Record Keeping, Patient Education, Referral, Consultation with Other Professionals)

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review practical implications and limitations of various therapies in treating PTSD.
  2. Describe the anxiety patterns and associated mood states of people with PTSD.
  3. Review specific interventions in moderating and relieving trauma symptoms using clinically-validated approaches.
